Conservation in Action
A unique opportunity to find out about conservation plans at the
Roman Baths is being offered on Thursday 6 September 2007 at
the Council-run Museum. The event takes place between 12.30-1.30pm,
and is free to Discovery Card holders, otherwise normal admission
charges apply.
Join the manager of the Roman Baths and Pump Room, Stephen Clews
and find out about the conservation work which is being carried out
this year and next. Stephen will explain what conservation
work has been done so far this year in the Temple Courtyard and
Great Bath area. He will also outline what is going to happen
in the autumn and winter. Meet in the reception hall between 12.15
and 12.30pm.
The Roman Baths and Pump Room site is one of Britain’s best
known, most spectacular and most frequently visited ancient
monuments. The state of preservation of the ancient monument
is exceptional. The purpose of our present approach to
conservation management is to ensure that visitors in the 22nd
century will be able to appreciate and enjoy the site in a state
that is at least as good as that enjoyed by visitors to the site
today.
