Museums and Galleries in Bath & North East
Somerset have arranged a week-long programme of events, trails,
workshops and talks to entertain the whole family. Teachers may be
looking forward to a well-earned break at half term, but there’s
plenty for everyone else to be getting on with.
You can make a mosaic mirage at the
Council-run Roman Baths, print your own T-shirt at the Holburne,
create an eastern outfit at the Fashion Museum or try and work out
what mystery objects are housed in the Museum of Bath at Work.
If you want a bracing walk, go to Prior Park
Landscape Garden at the weekend and follow their ‘Fabulous February
Trail’ or enjoy a craft making session. Let your eyes deceive you
at the Herschel with their Optical Illusions workshop and create
dazzling texture art at the Victoria Art Gallery.
Also, don’t miss the spectacular Lion Dance at
the Assembly Rooms on the 18 February – with performances from the
Nam Yang pugilistic group. Half Term co-incides with the
Chinese New Year, and as part of the nation-wide China Now!
Celebrations, the Holburne Museum’s workshops are inspired by blue
and white chinoisserie. Then come and find out about Bath’s
relationship with China in a free talk at the Guildhall on the 21
February.
Look out for leaflets with details of costs,
times and contact information at your local library, or go to
www.bathnes.gov.uk/heritageevents
where you will find the leaflet on the website.
