Lots in store during Heritage Open Days
Lots in store during Heritage Open Days
Buildings and places of historic importance to Bath & North
East Somerset, which are normally closed to the public, will be
open free of charge for only a few days in September.
As part of Heritage Open Days 2007 the reserve collections of the
Roman Bath Museum are on view at the St John’s Museum Store on
Saturday 8 September between 12.00 and 4.00pm. This is a rare
opportunity to view local history objects.
The collections include Victorian Spa equipment from Bath’s
treatment centre and the Hot Bath. Visitors can see original
bath and sedan chairs and they can also try out a replica sedan
chair. Also on view are examples of antique furniture by
local craftsmen including tables, chairs and benches.
It is also a chance to look at photographs of Bath’s spa buildings
including the Royal Baths in Stall Street.
Entry to the store is free and it is located on the corner between
Locksbrook Road and the Upper Bristol Road. The store is
wheelchair accessible and there is parking nearby. Further
information is available from the Museum office on 01225
477779.

Roman Baths
The Roman Baths Museum’s collections are designated as

from the Temple and baths to objects from the Georgian town and
Twentieth century spa.
The Roman Baths contains the remains of one of the greatest
religious spas in the ancient world. It is the most popular
