Half term fun at the Roman Baths, Fashion Museum and Victoria
Art Gallery
21-25 February 2011
Over the February half-term week, Bath &
North East Somerset Council’s museums are hosting a number of fun
activities for the whole family.
Activities include the chance to learn some
Roman maths at the Roman Baths, create new designs at the Fashion
Museum, or enjoy mosaic magic with the Young @ Art Club at the
Victoria Art Gallery.
Bath & North East Somerset Council’s
Cabinet member for Leisure and Tourism, Councillor Terry Gazzard
said:
“Bath & North East Somerset Council has
some fantastic museums. The activities planned for the half term
week are a great chance for children and families to find out more
about the world class arts and heritage we have on our
doorstep.“
Activities are listed below:
Roman Baths – Mathematical
Romans, family drop-in.
Monday 21 February to Friday 25 February:
10.00-1.00 & 2.00-4.00
Investigate Roman measurements and make a
Roman ruler.
Free to local resident Discovery Card
holders and Season ticket holders, otherwise normal admission
prices apply
Fashion Museum – Courting with
fashion, family drop-in.
Tuesday 22 February: 10.30-12.30 &
1.30-3.30
Find out about fashion in the past in our
stunning displays and design a court dress for 2011.
Free to local resident Discovery Card
holders, Season ticket holders and National Trust members,
otherwise normal admission prices apply
Victoria Art Gallery – Bits and
pieces, for 3 to 7 years old.
Thursday 24 February: 10.30-12.00 &
1.30-3.00
Enjoy our special exhibition and create a
collage using a variety of materials.
Victoria Art Gallery – Mosaic
madness, for 6 to 11 years old.
Friday 25 February: 10.30-12.00 &
1.30-3.00
Explore our mosaic exhibition and go mosaic
crazy!
All Victoria Art Gallery events cost
£3.75 per child and must be booked in advance on 01225 477244. All
children must be accompanied by an adult.
Special event at the Roman Baths
Roman Baths Late
Thursday 24 February: 6.00-9.00pm – last entry
8.00pm
Experience the torch-lit Roman Baths and enjoy
finding out about and trying Roman food. How did the Romans
cook and what did they eat? Talk to our demonstrators and try
olive oils from around the Roman Empire and handle objects used to
store, cook and serve food. Suitable for adults and
children.
Free to resident Discovery Card
holders.
