- Can I take photographs?
You are welcome to use a hand-held device to take pictures all around the site for your own personal enjoyment.
- Can I use a flash?
Yes you are welcome to use flash photography throughout the site, for your own use.
- Can I use a tripod?
Due to space restrictions, tripods are not allowed, with the exception of visitors with disabilities who can use them in the Great Bath and Terrace areas only by pre-arrangement.
- Can I arrange for an area to be roped off while I take photographs?
We cannot ask other visitors to move out of the way while you take photographs. If you would prefer to book exclusive use of the site to take photographs or film without other visitors present, please contact us. Please note there will be a fee for this. For further information see below.
- Where can I share my images?
- Can I use the Roman Baths for wedding and civil partnership photography?
If you have booked your wedding ceremony or reception at the Roman Baths you are more than welcome to take photographs or use your own photographer. To use the Roman Baths for a pre-wedding photo shoot or to take photographs on site, without using the venue for the ceremony or reception, please contact Bath’s Historic Venues.
- Can I use the Roman Baths for commercial or student filming and photography?
The Roman Baths and Pump Room are stunning backdrops for commercial photography shoots and for film crews. The site has featured in many history programmes as well as holiday and travel shows from around the world.
Commercial photography and filming must be booked out of hours. Please check our current opening times here.
Please note that we charge fees for filming and photography. We do not waive fees, even for student requests.
Please contact us to discuss your requirements and check availability for filming. Please note the site is also used for private hire for functions and may not always be available.
Commercial photographers and film crews must abide by our Risk Assessment, Covid-19 guidelines, Location Agreement and provide evidence of public liability insurance (£10 million).
We also require that they complete their own Risk Assessment and confirm they have undergone Covid-19 training.

- Can I fly a drone at the Roman Baths?
We do not allow drones to fly over the Roman Baths. For more information about using a drone to film in Bath please speak to Bath Film Office.
