Faces of the hoardings - Meet Joy

The hoarding is up around the Archway Project site with pictures and explanations on what's to come. We have asked some of the people featured to do a short Q&A with us! Our first person is Joy, who is a Mayor's Guide.

27 February 2020

Can you tell us about your role as a Mayor’s Guide?
The Mayor of Bath's Corps of Honorary Guides are a group of 86 volunteers who twice a day (not Saturday afternoon) everyday, take visitors around the City of Bath. We aim to give a two hour tour to visitors to show them around our historic city, educating and entertaining.

Where’s your favourite place to go in Bath?
My favourite place to go in Bath is Lansdown Crescent. It is a beautiful piece of architecture with a wonderful view. A difficult question to answer because there are so many wonderful places in Bath.

What are you looking forward to in 2020?
In 2020 I look forward to meeting new visitors and to my birthday party.
What are you most excited for when the future Clore Learning Centre and World Heritage Centre opens?
I look forward to the opening of the Clore Learning Centre because it will give children a place to go to learn more about the Roman history surrounding the baths and the ancient city. The World Heritage Centre is a welcome addition to the city which will offer visitors a place to learn more about the important heritage we offer. This will, hopefully, ensure Bath's future.
