We’ve selected amazing local and artisanal producers to fill our new pantry shelves, taking inspiration from Ancient Roman cuisine and celebrations. Read on to find out more about our products.

Bath Botanical Gin

Distilled in the Bath village of Widcombe, Sue Mullet’s small-batch gin is lovingly made in a traditional copper still, infused with seasonal botanical ingredients and hand-sealed in exclusive gold wax for the Roman Baths Shop.

Sue’s No. 1 Gin contains a unique and balanced blend of botanicals including Juniper, Liquorice, Coriander Seed, Angelica Root, Cardamom, Star Anise, Cassia Bark and Lemon Peel – ingredients which were common in Ancient Roman cuisine and medicine too!

Woodchester Valley Wines

Boutique vineyard with a rich Roman heritage, specialising in producing award-winning English wines from vines planted on the limestone soils of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

There is a strong connection between wine and Romano-British culture – Woodchester vineyard and winery are located close the famous Orpheus Pavement (once a grand Roman Villa); one of their white wines is named the Orpheus Bacchus in its honour and all their wine labels carry a graphic of an amphora copied directly from the pavement.

Chalice Mead

Chalice Mead is proud to promote Britain's ancient mead heritage, while supporting bee populations in the UK and beyond. Their sumptuous golden mead has a rich full flavour; the deeply satisfying taste of honey and the English countryside. Warming and lovely when sipped on its own or revelatory when used as a mixer for cocktails!

Fred, the jolly Bee Keeper spends his days travelling around the Wiltshire countryside looking after his bees, collecting swarms, giving talks and selling artisanal honey products.

In a Pickle

Based in the West Country in Wiltshire, these moreish, homemade chutneys are produced exclusively using fresh seasonal ingredients from juicy pears to fiery ale. In a Pickle are proud winners of Taste of the West and Great Taste Gold Awards!

Heavenly Hedgerows

Heavenly Hedgerows produces award winning gourmet jellies and jams mostly from hand-picked local wild plants and berries.

The business was borne of a love of foraging for wild food, inspired by a free-range New Zealand childhood and the delights of the West Country’s bountiful seasons.  Ancient Romans believed Rosehip and Lavender to have healing qualities and were commonly used as both food and medicine.

Iford Cider

Will and Joe love hand-crafting cider on the historic Iford Estate near Bath. Using apples from once-forgotten orchards, and working with wild-yeasts, these are real, naturally delicious ciders; free from artificial sweeteners and flavourings.

The tasty trio of ciders – Rushwood, Peto Press and New Tradition range from sparkling to still and medium to dry, so there’s something to suit all cider preferences!

Contemporary Designs in Wood

These wooden coasters and serving boards are handmade here in Bath from solid, 100% FSC sustainable oak and finely finished with food safe oil. Each piece is delicately etched by laser for a striking, yet vintage look.

The Gorgon's Head engraving on the coaster and oak leaf pattern on the board are taken from The Pediment of the Roman Temple of Minerva.  The Gorgon - a powerful symbol of the goddess Sulis Minerva and the oak leaves - a sacred symbol to the ancient Romans.
