Making an offering to the goddess in the 21st Century

News
Many objects were thrown into the Sacred Spring as offerings to the goddess Sulis Minerva, including more than 12,000 Roman coins which is the largest votive deposit known from Britain.

Today, you may be tempted to throw a coin in and make a wish towards the end of your visit.  After the Great Bath, you will come across a cold circular plunge pool. To protect this bath, we kindly ask you not to throw coins into the cold plunge pool. Retrieving the coins is complicated and costs money. Instead, please use the contactless donation point or the cash box to make your ‘offering’.

All offerings in these boxes go towards The Roman Baths Foundation. The Foundation is an independent registered charity (1163044) that supports learning and conservation at the Roman Baths so everyone can enjoy it today and in the future.

Your support will help care for this beautiful historic monument for everybody to enjoy. You will connect people to Roman life and surprise them about Roman culture through research and conservation work. You will help create wonderful activities and events for children, young people and community groups.
