Our learning programme includes a range of activities which are fun, interactive and accessible for both children and adults.

School programme

We offer a range of teaching sessions focused on Roman daily life, with opportunities to handle Roman objects from the museum’s collection and investigate historical sources.  All sessions are linked closely to the curriculum and cover Roman bathing, religion and belief, Latin language, and life in Roman Britain.

Our popular virtual sessions are still available, bringing our museum experts directly into the classroom for interactive and thought-provoking sessions for both Primary and Secondary schools.

Coming soon... our new Clore Learning Centre!

Our upcoming Archway Project will create a state-of-the-art and fully accessible Learning Centre for the Roman Baths where school children, community groups and other users will be able to learn about our heritage in a variety of imaginative and accessible ways. In the new Learning Centre children will be able to dress as Romans, handle original artefacts, investigate Roman building technology and discover the inscriptions the Romans left behind. They will even get the opportunity to try archaeology by excavating replica Roman objects in an underground Investigation Zone!
